Enough is enough. Columbine. Sandy Hook. Las Vegas. Marjory Stoneman Douglas.

I support the Second Amendment. It's the law of the land. I carried a weapon in the Army. I qualified with the M-14, the M-16, and the .45 caliber pistol.

No one—that I know of—wants to repeal the Second Amendment or take away anyone's guns. It's fear-mongering to say otherwise. Fear-mongering.

But we need to address the problem of gun violence and understand the causes. If we don't, the violence will continue.

I'll work with others to allow the CDC (The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) to research the problem and recommend solutions. And then to implement the CDC's recommendations.

Now, the CDC is forbidden to research gun violence by something called the Dickey Amendment. Former Representative Jay Dickey, who proposed the amendment in 1996, later regretted the action.

I'll work to ban bump stocks. They serve no sporting or defensive purposes.

I'll work to ban large-capacity magazines. If you can't bring down a deer with ten rounds, you don't need a larger magazine, you need better marksmanship training.
